FILM SNACKS SERVED DRY
For lovers of deadpan mirth we bring news..
The short form series, The MUTE Series, returns in 2024 with four brand new films bringing the total number of films in the series to twenty two.
Once again, the new films abide by the three strict rules that gives the series its unique flavour:
1) no dialogue 2) no camera movement 3) only one shot.
The new films are:
• CLINICAL INTERVENTION (A pregnant woman on a drip steps outside the hospital for a breather. But does she follow doctor's orders?)
• STOP (Two cyclists and a car wait at temporary lights. Will they see red?)
• THE PRISONER (A prisoner, stuck in his cell, dreams of all the things he could do if only he was free.)
• AN EMOTIONAL STATE (Inside the Oval Office the President has a moment of lucidity.)
These four new films are currently playing on the festival circuit and will be launched on the site very soon.
Here are some of the festivals showing some or all of the new films:
LATEST NEWS…
Seven MUTE films are playing on 22 November at the This is England film festival in Rouen, France. The mini-retrospective will be accompanied by a Q&A with The MUTE Series creator Andy Lambert.
Two of the new MUTE films, “The Prisoner” and “Stop”, have been picked up by Screenvision Media for their pre-show package and will screen as supporting shorts across 36 screens in 7 independent cinemas throughout the USA in September and October 2024. The films will play in art house movies theaters in California, Massachusetts, Tennessee and Illinois.
Ted Bolan, SVP, Creative Director at Screenvision Media, was struck by the films’ innovative style and dry wit. “Andy’s fun and quirky short films provide us, Screenvision Media, with unique and engaging content for our cinema pre-show to entertain moviegoers,” said Bolan, “… and provide independent filmmakers like Andy an opportunity to show their films in front of an audience on the ultimate screen in media.”
Cinema-goers take note. The 'talkies' was but a mere 97-year aberration. Pure cinema is coming back to the big screen!
